How many pills do you have to take every morning? Lots of multivitamins in there? For most people the answer is yes, considering there are more multivitamins sold than Prozac or Viagra!

I think my mom used to take at least five or six vitamins. I don’t know about you, but I think that sounds like a big hassle, and I don’t have time for it.

The thing is, vitamins and minerals are necessary. You can get most of your nutrients from eating a balanced diet which includes lots of fruits and vegetables, but you can’t get everything. That’s where vitamins come in.

You may be wondering, “Why do I actually need vitamins and minerals?” Let me tell you about the United States Senate Document #264 from way back in 1936.

The main point of the document is that the soil in developed countries, especially North America, has been nearly depleted of all important minerals. And this was in 1936! Thank about how bad it is now. We should be getting minerals from the foods we eat, but we aren’t. (Don’t worry, the end of the article has a solution.)

To quote directly from the document, “The alarming fact is that foods, fruits and vegetables and grains, now being raised on millions of acres of land that no longer contain enough of certain needed minerals, are starving us - no matter how much of them we eat!”

One mineral you’re probably familiar with is calcium. We need that for our bones. And since cycling is not a weight bearing sport, we need extra calcium. Calcium does more than build strong bones, however.

Read this interesting selection from the document for more detail:

“A cage full of normal rats will live in amity. Restrict their calcium and they will become irritable and draw apart from one another. Then they will begin to fight. Restore their calcium balance and they will grow more friendly; in time they will begin to sleep in a pile as before.”

Now we come to another important question: Do you have a dangerous mineral deficiency? For example, if you are deficient in selenium, you could experience an irregular heart beat, infertility, or muscular dystrophy. A deficiency in tin could lead to male pattern baldness. And a lack of lithium could cause reproductive failure. Yikes!

(By the way, the product I’m going to tell you about contains all the macro and trace minerals known to man!)

Hopefully you now realize the importance of vitamins and minerals in your diet. But you probably know how annoying it is to take pills. Well, what about liquid vitamins?

First off, let’s talk about absorption rates. In pill form, only 10-20% of the vitamins are absorbed. However, in liquid form, 98% are absorbed. (Think of taking pills as flushing 80-90% of your money down the toilet!) (1996 Physicians Desk Reference, p. 1542)

Along with actually working, liquid vitamins are easy to use. Just take a few sips, swish it around in your mouth, and swallow. That’s it.

Personally, I hate swallowing pills. I know some people who couldn’t swallow a pill to save their life. And I know people who pass pills through their system without breaking them down at all. However, everyone I know can swallow a liquid.

Not too long ago, Centrum actually came out with a liquid multivitamin because they could see the potential in this market. However, it is simply a multivitamin in liquid form. Wait…isn’t that what we wanted? Well, yes. But there is something even better.

Remember how I said it would be a good idea to get your nutrients from actual whole food? Now there’s a way to do that, but with a liquid.

That way is with a product known as Body Balance. By taking it, you’re getting organic vitamins and minerals derived from live plants. Specifically, from pure deep sea vegetation. (See why Centrum isn’t on par with whole food like Body Balance?)

First, we must settle one of two issues before you continue reading this article. The first issue is straight forward, a “direct-punch-to-the-nose” kind of a question:

Do you believe cancer is “beatable?”
I don’t mean, “Sometime in the future…”
I think everyone believes “some day”, “somewhere”, “someone” will discover the cure.

Nor do I mean anything like, “Is cancer treatable where people temporarily overcome the disease through the burning of radiation, the surgeon’s knife or the necessarily toxic effects of chemotherapy?”
That we all know is possible….

No, my question is far more specific:
In your opinion, is Cancer… Curable…Stoppable …Conquerable… Whatever synonym you supply, the question remains…Is it or isn’t it defeatable?
Yes or no. Can we whip this thing?

…Because if, in your heart of hearts, you believe Cancer is NOT ‘defeatable’… there’s no sense in continuing this letter.
However, if you’re like me, you believe it’s certainly defeatable. Now the only question that remains:

Is Cancer NOW facing REAL defeat?

Since we all have a healthy fear of being “sold” the next bottle of snake oil, we need to establish that the claims being made are credible and reliable. Incidentally, I am NOT selling you anything in this letter. I believe you should consider a product or two…but not here.

So, let’s deal with cancer:

” According to the American Cancer Society, “cancer is a group of diseases characterized by uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells. If the spread is not controlled, it can result in death.”
” Cancers tend to metastasize (spread) over time, causing destruction of healthy tissue and damage to bodily functions…
” If left unchecked, cancers can cause death. However, even the treatments for cancer can be destructive to healthy tissues and can do severe damage to bodily functions (side effects)…
” Over the past 100 years, cancers have grown into epidemic proportions without any scientific explanation for the sudden surge in their appearance. Remember, cancer was once comparatively RARE.
” BUT, scientists have now concluded cancer is fundamentally a breakdown of the immune system. As the immune system goes, so goes the cancer. That fact is the new approach …and it has a whole world of scientific evidence behind it.

Consider carefully:

Changing Cancer Cells’ Surface Sugars Can Inhibit Tumor Growth

“According to the research of scientists, as published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, altering the sugar coats of cancer cells can control cancer.”
( published in the Scientific American, Jan. 22, 2002)

In other words, “sugar” is a BIG issue in the medical, alternative, and complementary health world. The words “Glycomics” and “Glyconutrition” have sprung up in the vocabulary of health authorities around the world. (Glyco is the Greek word for “sugar.”). These sciences refer to the study of biological sugars. What makes these “sugars” so important is among the over 200 known sugars around the world, there are 8 sugars which medical research has isolated as VITAL to human immune system functioning.

The 1999 Nobel Prize for Medicine was awarded to Dr. Gunter Blobel for his work in the science of Glycobiology. Out of the last eight Nobel Prizes awarded in medicine, four Nobel Prizes have been awarded for discoveries made in ONE field…Glycobiology. This is the field that affects CANCER directly. Why? Because, 8 sugars have been isolated that strengthen the immune system and cell communication. Human life cannot be supported without them.

The field is glyconutrition. Glyconutrients are NOT vitamins, amino acids or minerals. Scientifically, glyconutrients are a class all by themselves. The field is revolutionizing the medical world. For the first time in a long time, many authorities in both the conventional medical world and those of the alternative world are in agreement. Powerful glyconutrients have already been included in the Physicians Desk Reference (post 2002), the “Bible” of physicians everywhere throughout the country.

Why? Consider…
Four Ways Glyconutrients Fight Cancers*
1. Macrophage and Immune killer cells are stimulated by glyconutritional supplementation to destroy malignancies.
2. Glyconutrional research shows that glyconutrients increase the production of substances in the body that target cancer cells for destruction, such as interferon.
3. Glyconutrients activate T-cells to recognize and destroy invasive and abnormal cells.
4. Glyconutrients help regulate the process of apoptosis- the natural “dying off” process in cellular systems.

If these processes are restrained - due to a variety of factors such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, poor glyconutritional dietary habits, etc., the body will fail to prevent the onset of cancer.
(Cited in Miracle Sugars, Rita Elkins, M.H., Woodland Publishing, p. 29)
Note How the Scientific World is Successfully Combating Cancer with the New Discoveries in Glycoscience

The revolutionary “glyconutrition” discoveries found over the past decade have stunned the scientific world. If that sounds “more hype than hope” you might want to take just a few moments to consider just a few developments:
In 1985, an issue of Cancer Research reported the formation of cancer cells in the colon and in the stomach was directly and UNMISTAKENLY related to the absence of glyconutrition or the presence of deformed sugar molecules. Since then, scientists at the University of South Florida believe confirmation of the glyconutritional linkage to cancer inhibition and its spread is profound. For example, according to the 1997 issue of Anticancer Research science periodical, glyconutrition decreases the number of liver tumors.

In addition,
“Dr. Ronald Klatz reported in the now incredibly famous medical research study nicknamed “Norman’s Rats”, 40% of the animals that had no defense whatsoever against cancer and were injected with just ONE of the eight essential glyconutritionals, showed “tumor regression and complete recovery.”

- Advances in Anti-Aging Medicine, Vol. 1, 1996 by Dr. Ronald Klatz.
Obviously, YOU and I must find out about Glyconutrition…for the sake of our health and for those we love.

It is for that reason, and that reason alone, I have written this open letter…

Dr. Robert Gamble is retired from a very successful Cardio-Thoracic surgical career spanning three decades. He is now active in researching medical issues such as glyconutrition… and offers his insights for public benefit. This new science is sending shockwaves through the entire medical industry and may be the missing link between health and disease. Anti aging natural supplements - do they exist? Is it possible that anti aging natural supplements can slow the aging process? Absolutely! Numerous clinical studies have shown and are still discovering the health benefits of many nutrients.

The foundation for good health is a lifestyle that includes a sensible diet with nutritional supplements, reasonable exercise and weight management. It is important to be aware of what NOT to eat as well as what you should eat. In general, if it comes in a packet or is processed, it’s healthier not to eat it.

Slowing down the aging process includes providing your body all the nutrients it requires. These nutrients must work at the cellular level repairing your DNA and RNA. Ideally, you should be able to obtain the essential nutrients from your diet. However, that has not been possible for years. Numerous studies have found the overall nutrient value of foods has been declining for decades due to soil depletion.

Taking one of the high-quality, broad-spectrum anti aging natural supplements helps fill in the dietary gaps that everyone will have. The essential nutrients that you need are extensive and complex. Your body also needs and will use a wide array of anti aging natural supplements — amino acids, antioxidants, bioflavanoids, neuronutrients, certain herbal extracts, enzymes and specialized substances such as L-Carnosine, alpha lipoic acid, acetyl L-Carnitine, ATP precursors and so on. And these nutrients have to be in the correct proportions to each other based on the latest research.

Remember, even the best anti aging natural supplements cannot substitute for a poor diet. For example, the USDA food pyramid recommends consuming 2.5 cups of vegetables a day for women and 3 cups a day for men — most people simply do not. Consuming mostly junk food, sodas and sweets and taking anti aging natural supplements will not provide you with all the nutrients your body needs. Anti aging supplements should be considered supplements to, not replacements for, a reasonably balanced diet.

If you are serious about slowing down your aging process, remember that there is no single magic pill, supplement or hormone that on its own will help you achieve this objective. The best anti aging natural supplements aren’t the one-a-day vitamin type. Why? One capsule or tablet simply cannot hold all that’s needed in necessary quantities — it would be way too large to swallow. The minimal vitamins and minerals found in the typical one-a-day supermarket vitamins are only the beginning and probably a waste of money.

And on the other hand, when trying to design your own supplement plan, it’s easy to end up with a dozen or more individual vitamins and minerals to take daily, which is both a hassle and expensive. Besides, if certain substances are out of balance, it’s possible they can combine to produce other unwanted compounds that can be harmful. This is why buying a variety of supplements and taking them together can sometimes even be dangerous.

Another important consideration is that women need a different vitamin formula than men. Women’s anti aging natural supplements should contain nutrients proven by clinical studies to support the balancing of female hormones in the years before, during and after menopause. And the best anti aging supplements for men should contain ingredients proven to support healthy male prostate.

Learn as much as you can about what finding the best anti aging natural supplements really means. After all, your health, energy and wellness is the issue. Before spending your money, be informed about the products you’ll be taking every day.

For many Americans, our health seems to be going haywire.

Illness, depression, anxiety, muscle aches, pains and little ouches are wearing us down. Many of us simply do not feel well … and we just do not have the energy to enjoy life fully.

The most shocking thing about these ailments is: They are often caused by what we eat and the high cholesterol that ensues from unhealthy foods.

The good news is we can turn it around and experience vibrant health.

How Do You Create Vibrant Health? Let it flow …

This kind of health does not come in a vitamin, mineral, herb or pill. Exercise alone will not create it. I think we can also safely eliminate modern medicine as a source of “Incredible Health.” They are obviously preoccupied with the creation of new miracle drugs that can be sold to us on an ongoing basis. These methods cannot support the high level of health I am describing here. Drugs, no matter how seemingly miraculous, only produce the illusion of health by altering individual chemical reactions in the body.

I studied hundreds of research abstracts while writing a book about cholesterol. My search results for “high cholesterol” in the National Library of Medicine turned up numerous studies on many of our most serious diseases. These included Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, arthritis, fibromyalgia, back pain, depression, cancer, osteoporosis, heart attack and stroke to name a few. Elevated cholesterol was a common trait in all of these diseases. There was definitely a pattern here!

Through further study I found that high cholesterol is one of the underlying causes of increased blood viscosity (resistance to flow). The primary job of blood is to deliver oxygen to all the cells of the body. It stands to reason that even slightly decreased blood flow resulting from high cholesterol or other blood components, would reduce oxygen delivery to those cells. Over an extended period of time affected cells would suffer from a decreased ability to function at full capacity.

According to prominent medical literature most of the diseases noted above have “unknown origins.” Yet, in many studies I reviewed, researchers have postulated that long term tissue hypoxia in the brain might be responsible for diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Other studies have also noted the origins of cancer and arthritis to be “oxygen deprived” and “acidic and inhospitable tissue environments.”

The most exciting thing about this revelation is that it puts the answer to so many serious diseases squarely within our control! In my opinion the vast majority of chronic diseases plaguing developed nations today, are directly related to the long-term results of increased blood viscosity. The powerful answer is on our dinner plate.

The Solution to So Many Problems is in What We Eat:

We have all read news stories describing the “protective benefits” of one kind of food or another. Tomatoes have lycopene, a key to fighting heart disease. Carrots have beta carotene, which prevents cancer. Oatmeal reduces cholesterol. Most of these stories simply represent advertising disguised as news. Individually, no fruit, vegetable or other healthy food will solve your health problems. However, these stories hint at the real answer to all our health concerns.

Numerous studies demonstrate the extraordinary health benefits provided by a diet of primarily fruits and vegetables. For instance, it has been proved that a plant based diet can lower cholesterol just as quickly as many prescription drugs. The real benefit is that it does so without the damaging side effects that often accompany drug treatments. Lowering cholesterol is a key step in eliminating the risk of many of the debilitating diseases listed above.

A plant-based diet is rich in many important health-building nutrients like Vitamin C, Folate, Fiber, and Beta Carotene, to name a few. Individually these nutrients do nothing to reduce cholesterol levels in the blood. (This explains why vitamin supplements do not lower cholesterol.) But, eaten together in their natural state, these foods become a powerful, almost magical health-building complex with no equal in medicine.

Why is a plant-based diet so very beneficial to our overall health? The simple answer is that these foods represent our natural diet. These are the foods we are designed to thrive upon!

Eating a plant based diet, while significantly decreasing the amount of processed and animal based foods can improve our circulation within days (read more about this at www.concretehealth.com). It does so naturally by thinning and lubricating the blood, facilitating dramatically more efficient delivery of oxygen to all the cells of the body. It’s not possible to overemphasize the value of a diet composed of 90% fruits, nuts, vegetables, and limited grains and fish. If you are looking for truly astonishing improvement in your health, this is it.

Looking Forward to Vibrant Health:

If you are one of those people who is suffering from the modern malady or is coming close to it … ask yourself. Would you like to enjoy incredible health? Not just the absence of disease, but:

Vibrant energy, the kind that makes you want to leap out of bed in the morning, full of enthusiasm for the new day. Really!

Unbounded optimism, with the ability to automatically look past routine doom and gloom to the positive in any situation.

Mental sharpness, setting you apart from the overwhelming numbers of people who “sleep-walk” through life.

Physical stamina, not necessarily that of an athlete, but that which allows you to be as productive at midnight as you are in the morning and all points between.

Unwavering self-confidence emanating from deep within, shining brightly as a beacon for others to follow.

The knowledge that health is fully within our control and that our daily decisions determine the level of health we experience.

You might be feeling so imbalanced that you have forgotten what it is like to just feel good. It may be challenging to change your diet … radical for some. But just imagine what it will feel like in the morning to awake refreshed, pain free, and excited about the day ahead! And to know you have many days of more joyful living ahead of you because of improved health.

The key is to find a common ground on the things we do agree on in order to make things better for all those concerned. Dr. Paul Offit has withstood such criticism for what few can protest is work that saves lives: vaccines. Imagine the world today if vaccines did not exist. You have no idea that avoiding all fats is serious mistake. All fats are not created equal.

In fact, if you were to avoid them entirely you’d not only slow down on losing weight (assuming that is your goal; you didn’t say) but you’d be in worse health! While it sounds confusing it’s not. Fats are a complex subject but I hope that in the next 2 minutes you’ll have a much better understanding of the importance in your diet.

Let’s talk fat!

There are two main kinds of fat:

1. Good fats (essential fat, essential fatty acid) 2. Bad fats (processing methods, hydrogenation, damaged good fats)

Four sources of good fats:

1. Green vegetables (but in very small amounts) 2. Seeds and nuts (combinations of flax, sunflower, sesame to get the correct mixtures of Omega-3 and Omega-6) 3. High fat, cold water fish such as sardines, salmon, trout, herring, and mackerel 4. Oils made with health in mind: pressed from organically grown seeds

You hear a lot about the bad fats and all the problems associated with them but you also need to know about the good fats and the benefits from them. The main concept you want to take away from this section is all fats are not created equal. You want to get more of the good fats from sources like fish, nuts and some oils (combinations are always the best thing). Eliminating all fats is actually unhealthy. A zero fat diet is not recommended. One health nutritional professional once said that clients who came to him boasting that they only ate 10-15 g of fat per day. But they were in the office because they were not losing any weight. A diet void of all fats is not good. You should not avoid all fats.

When unsaturated vegetable oils are manufactured into solid form, they turn into trans fats. Processing can damage natural fats and make them toxic. Hydrogenation, which is used to turn oils into margarine, shortening, or partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, produces trans fatty acids. Trans fats are found in hundreds of processed foods, usually to protect against spoiling and to enhance flavor. You should AVOID trans fats as much as possible (there are no health benefits here).

Truthfully, trans fats are even worse for the cardiovascular system then saturated fats. There are conservative estimates that 30,000 premature deaths from heart disease every year in the United States are linked to trans fats. Other studies show that trans fats drive up the body’s LDL, the bad cholesterol, even faster then saturated fats. High levels of cholesterol have been linked to heart disease and stroke.

You should have a diet that is moderate in saturated fats (a nice steak is okay every so often). But avoid them entirely? No. You’ll find some saturated fats in all fats including the essential fatty acids. The more saturated fats you eat the more essential fats you’ll need to eat to combat the effects. There’s no real reason to be obsessed about them but that’s not an excuse to eat more of them.

Most of the scientific community will still recommend a diet low to moderate in saturated fats. Diets high in fat, particularly saturated fat, may promote a variety of diseases. Therefore, saturated fats and trans fats are the only fats that you should strive to eliminate from your diet.

Interesting Fact:

* Bodybuilders can eat more saturated fats then a sedentary person because the body can burn saturated fats for energy.

What Are Essential Fatty Acids (EFA)?

EFAs = Essential Fatty Acids are substances from fats that must be provided by foods because the body cannot make them, and yet must have them for health. EFAs exist in two families: omega-3 and omega-6.

According to the above definition of essential, there are only two essential fats (technically called essential fatty acids or EFAs). One is the omega 3 EFA, called alpha- linolenic acid. The other, the omega 6 EFA, is known as linoleic acid.

Certain fats are defined as ‘essential’ because:

1. The body cannot make them; 2. They are required for normal cell, tissue, gland, and organ function, for health, and for life; 3. They must be provided from outside the body, through food or supplements; 4. They can come only from fats (hence fat-free diets cannot supply them); 5. Their absence from the diet will eventually kill; 6. Deficiency results in progressive deterioration, can lead to death; 7. Return of essential fatty acids to a deficient diet reverses the symptoms of deficiency and results in a return to health.

Most people do not get enough EFA’s in their diets, especially those who restrict themselves to a very low fat (any fat) type of diet. It’s rare that anybody is truly clinically deficient but such diets as a very low fat diet are clearly not going to provide optimal EFA’s.

Various types of oil blends, fish, seeds and green vegetables contain essential fatty acids. These “good fats” have a ton of great benefits to them. Getting enough of the good fats daily in your diet will actually do wonders to help you burn fat. Many sources recommend combinations of EFAs because of the Omega-3 and Omega-6.

For example, if you were to only get your essential fats from something like Flaxseed oil, there’s some research to suggest it’s not as beneficial as you might think because exclusive use of flax oil can lead to Omega-6 deficiency within 2-8 months! Furthermore, using CLA in conjunction with this might lead to deficiency of Omega-6 even sooner then just using flax oil alone.

All this really means is using oil blends and getting EFAs from various sources will help you achieve optimum levels of BOTH Omega-3 and Omega-6 complexes. I would recommend you don’t use flax oils exclusively but combine them with other EFA sources to balance any deficiencies.

Two of the many benefits to an EFA complex are:

1- Increase the metabolic rate 2- Help burn fat

There are several other benefits but in essence, what this says is that getting 15-20% of your good fats in your diet daily will actually increase your metabolic rate resulting in more fat loss!

Re-read that! Getting the optimal amount of good fats a day (15-20% of total calories) will actual enhance the metabolic reactions and result in more fat burn off.

Yearly it is the very same tale. In spite of running to work, and an infrequent long walk, each snowboarding season starts enduring those torture some first few routes during which one is left behind in the paths of younger and fitter ski touring cronies.

Being not match fit while ski touring it’s beastly, and may be extremely severe. Skiing down one needs some extra capacity. A tired boarder is more than likely to have injuries and tiredness is likely to be a contributing ingredient to incidents, for example trips and avalanches.

Surely there’s a nicer way to begin the ski season, and a lately printed 305 page account by Ross Burnham, who previously wrote Chamonix Travel, seems to extend a resolution. Whilst directed at climbers the data is for the most part practical to skiing, with its strenuous climbs in addition to different hobbies.

Climbing, practicing for top results is well researched and easy to read. It is a acceptable comprehensive guide that pulls together some good information. One could develop a specific exercise regime or tweak your present one. Afforded that it is mainly for mountaineers, and so some of the techniques will be irrelevant for skiing, it’s by all odds an account to acquire if you would like to do some of the long 24 hrs or multi day ski tours.

Home owner insurance is supposed to give you a peace of mind that you will be protected in the event that anything damaging or disastrous happens to your home. However, you cannot just assume that if you have a home owner insurance policy that you will not be responsible for the repairs to your home if something does happen. It is very important that you are well aware of the obligations that you have as a homeowner to ensure that you and your home are covered against the most likely (and unlikely) problems. Here are some common things that some people overlook in their home owner insurance policies:

1. If you bought your home more than 2 or 3 years ago you may need to update your assessed value on your home owner insurance. Although you may have “full” replacement coverage, it usually only covers 100 to 125% of your home value when it was originally insured with home owner insurance. Home values in some areas have doubled and tripled within the past 5 years. Talk to your agent to update your home owner insurance coverage amount so that you will not be left with tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay out of pocket to rebuild your home.

2. You may not know this, but the insurance industry keeps a national database of claims and even inquiries about making claims. This was set up to prevent people from making a lot of fraudulent home owner insurance claims. But, in the recent past some insurance companies have been using it to deny coverage or drop coverage for people who make a single claim or even an inquiry about a claim. So, be cautious about making any claims. If you think that your expense will be less than the deductible do not make a claim.

3. Make sure that you have adequate liability coverage. It is not expensive to get full coverage, and it may prevent you from losing your home if you are ever sued-and lawsuits are becoming more and more common.

4. Keep up your home maintenance-especially plumbing. Mold and mildew damage are now excluded from coverage in many insurance policies. If you have had an undetected leak that has caused damage, mold, and/or mildew it could end up costing you dearly in out of pocket costs.

Educate yourself on what your home insurance policy does and does not cover for peace of mind.

Purchasing a family dental insurance plan provides you and your family two important benefits:

• Better oral health for the entire family as most plans pay 100% of the preventive service fees such as cleaning every six months. This encourages the family to visit the dentist for regular check ups and cleaning treatments. Prevention is half the battle!

• Generate more savings because the dental insurance company pays a certain percentage of dental services for minor and major procedures.

Here are six questions to guide you in the selection of the right dental insurance plan for you and your family.

1. Does the plan allow you to pick your own dentist?

Some dental insurance carriers give you bigger discounted rates provided you use their network of dentists. If your favorite dentist is not part of the network, the dental insurance plan may not cover the treatment. You should consider paying extra for a plan, which allows you and your family to go to your preferred dentist.

2. Are there restrictions when it comes to choosing the best treatment options?

Some insurance plans put a cap on the number of treatments or limit the amount paid for a condition. If you or your family has a history of poor dental health care, then you should choose a plan that has few restrictions on this aspect.

3. What is does the plan cover?

An ideal dental insurance plan allows for one cleaning treatment every six months, with X-ray and fluoride treatments that come at little or no cost for each member. For the major procedures, some dental plans require you to pay 50 percent of the entire bill. If your family has a history of good dental health care, then you may want to negotiate for lesser coverage when it comes to the major procedures.

4. Which family members are covered by the family insurance plan?

Most dental insurance carriers cover the spouse and dependent children, from birth through 18. Some exceptions are given for children up to the ages of 22 if the child is a full time student, and dependent on the principal for support.

5. Is there built in flexibility in scheduling dental appointments?

Some inexpensive dental insurance plans limit when you can come in for dental treatment. Check to ensure that these scheduled appointments do not inconvenience you or your family.

6. How much savings does this plan generate?

Whether you and your spouse decide to purchase a family dental insurance plan, or avail of your employers’ sponsored plan - you will still be able to generate savings, for you are not paying for the entire procedure.
