Preparing for Christmas can be stressful. Take some of the pressure off by planning your holiday early. Candy will make a lovely addition to your Christmas menu. Below you’ll find Christmas candy recipes, which only contain a few ingredients each and are simple to put together.
Candy Drops
- 2 cups sugar
- pinch of salt
- 2 egg whites
- tsp vanilla extract
- .5 cup corn syrup
- .5 cup water, warm
- In heavy, 2 quart saucepan place sugar, corn syrup, hot water, and salt.
- Cook over low flame, stir until sugar is dissolved and mixture is boiling.
- Cook until the mixture forms a ball on its own.
- Wipe crystals from the sides of the pan with a wet pastry brush. Remove from heat.
- In a glass or metal mixing bowl, whisk egg whites until peaks form.
- Pour the syrup over the egg whites while beating.
- Increase to high mixing speed and continue to beat for 5 minutes. Add vanilla extract. Beat until the mixture becomes stiff with peaks.
- Drop spoonfuls on wax paper and allow it to cool before storing at room temperature.
Turtles w/ Pretzels, salty & sweet
- 20 mini pretzels
- 20 walnuts
- 20 chocolate covered caramels
Prep:
- Arrange pretzels individually on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
- Put one chocolate covered caramel candy on top of each of the pretzels.
- Bake 4 minutes.
- While caramel is melted, top each with a nut and let it cool off before storing or serving.
