Lessons from Tom Dwan Part Two
Lessons from Tom Dwan part 2 By B. Butler One of the most fundamental things we can learn about Tom Dwan is that fear is the online poker players biggest hindrance. Many players might claim they can see what is coming at certain points, and what they should do, place they could bet to pick up a pot, but having the fearlessness and the heart to fire into spots where it is almost illogical, particularly against some of the biggest players in the online poker game, gives Dwan a prowess that leaves even legendary players like Barry Greenstein and Phil Hellmuth often scratching their hands and calling him a donkey. The key factor to the moves we see Dwan making on TV is based in part on his opponent’s ability to give him credit for strange moves. Against lesser players at Everest Poker, such as in lower stakes games online, some players might be more willing to gamble against him and come after him, leaving some of his higher tricks out in the wind. Often, though, Dwan has shown an ability to respond to even this, plowing through and firing or not firing in pots that end up helping him drag down bigger and bigger stakes. Rule books are not real here. Dwan is inventing his own rules. That is the path to legendary status, over even mere greatness.
